“We shape our tools, and thereafter our tools shape us.” - Marshall McLuhan
We like to say AI is objective. But every dataset is a diary, written by a culture, a company, a coder, or maybe even a mood on a Monday morning.
When an AI reaches a conclusion, it does so from a thousand invisible choices, each one human, historical, and a little flawed.
That’s not objectivity, it’s a mirror we’ve polished so well we can’t see the fingerprints anymore.
Maybe real objectivity doesn’t come from erasing bias at all. Maybe it starts when we finally notice our reflection staring back.
